you may just end up building your own drums instead of buying those Fibes. Fibes are awesome drums but you can do it yourself.
That would be great I didn' t know there was a shell company where I could get crystalite or the like. I searched aorund here a bit. Who is GnT? Or are there other colored clear raw shell companies you recommend? Thanks JDW.

Hey there folks...

My name is Billy Fedderson. Born in Pasadena, Ca. "Arthur William Fedderson IV" to a bunch of sadistic hippies, I was constantly bombarded with music from an early age. Throughout my childhood, my father kept shops in the Los Angeles area where he specialized in fabrication and plastics especially. Doing alot of work for movie props, commercial displays, etc.. I learned to love using my hands to build things young. I started music with choir and the flute in 3rd grade and after having a teacher that was not able to connect with me, traded in the flute for the drums the next year. I played snare and bass in concert orchestras all throughout school, and then later got into set and playing with jazz ensembles and in marching band. I moved to Boulder, CO. when I was 13 and continued singing and bashing as much as I could. At 13, my father broke down and bought me my first kit, which was a pearl export series that was rumored to be owned and purchased from Brad Wilk of Rage against the Machine... (I was so stoked) After playing it awhile I realized without a better tonal range, I would grow sick of playing drums all together so started to dream up a custom and strange sized kit. A few years later, after much begging, saving and work I put in an order for a custom 5 piece DW kit. Growing up in Oxnard, Ca ... DW were the guys next door and they took my order in the factory showroom one summer when I was back in CA visiting. This kit has been with me for the remainder of my years and seen too many bands and too many careless hands. After deciding to try and refinish the drums I started looking into misc. parts such as lugs and tension rods and found a wealth of info. in several spaces.. one of which has come to be ghostnote. I've now decided to probably just try and buff the old DW kit and maybe give her some new hoops before trying to put her into semi-retirement. I'm in the process of ordering my first set of keller shells which I plan to lacquer and outfit with lugs and hoops made by some of the guys on this forum. I'm super excited about this first drum project and can't wait for the long process to get started, so expect a lot of questions in the Builder forum from me... (i'll try to keep them to a minimum, really I will)
I'm now 24, living back in California and playing with just about anybody that'll let me setup a kit behind 'em (or hold a mic - though I prefer sticks) some of my recent work can be checked out at www.mybandrocks.com and in short order also at www.futuremanispunk.net ... not the jazziest of projects, but it's a challenge, and it's fun. Anyway, I'll stop boring you with this whole life story now, (hey you asked) but if you guys want to know anything else or there's anything I can do, let me know.

Thanks, Billy

OK, Here Goes........... I'm a 59 year old fart drummer named Bink Abernathy. I've been playin professionaly since 1959. I grew up in the Philadelphia area and played in many cover bands around the Philly, Jersey shore area for years before moving to Florida and the Tampa Bay area in the early 70's and have been living and playing in Fla. ever since. When it comes to playing, I feel like I'm one of the luckyest people in the world. I get to play the kind of music I grew up listening to, Doo Wop. I tour with The Crests, a 50's, multi gold record, recording group. You guy's have to know the song 16 Candles. It's in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 5 singers are all my age or older and their harmony blend always raises the hair on my head, every show I do with them. It's really a pleasure and an honor to play with them. We do an hour and a half show and we're out of there and back on the tour bus. Like a dream gig for me.
Ive been designing and building drums for years and desided to start my own small custom drum co. after going to The Custom Drum Builders Summit in Denver this summer. William Reeves' seminar on marketing was really inspiring, thank you William. So in September my squeez Sharon and I Started Old Man Boogie's Drum Works. So when I'm not on the road with The Crests, I'm building drums. It doesn't get much better than that. We plan on getting a web site up soon and I'm comming out with special line of snares called the Swamp Boogie series,
" Drums With A Bite " soon to be premiered on this forum. Shouldn't be too much longer.
Bink

Default PhattieD up in the hizzzause.

Howdy ya'll, PhattieD's the name, pleasure to be here.

The short version: 24 years old, full time engineering student, graduating in this fine year of 2004. I started Phattie Drums 4 years ago to the day, working out of my parents 2 car garage in Blacksburg, VA. That's also where Paul from Black Cat got his start, you could say its all been downhill for the poor guy since he saw my garage . Long story short, I now have a nice little shop in Johnson City, TN, where I'm finishing up my degree while puttin' in 40-60 hours a week on the drums. Looking to build a new shop with around 10,000 square feet as soon as I graduate, start forming my own shells, and take over a good portion of the market...two more semesters and its AWN. Yup, thats the short version. -PhattieD

Default Tbone Drums here!

I too overlooked this thread for a long time, then did my best to avoid posting! But now that I see I'm NOT the oldest member (thanks, Bink!), I guess I can reveal that I'm a YOUNG 54 year old.
The name Tbone came from some Greek bar owners misreading & mispronouncing my name from gig contracts; Tom Vogel somehow became Tam Bone, so band guys always called me Tbone.
So yeah, I've been playing since the mid '60's & play in 3 groups right now, one of which we started in 1970's. I can say right here, right now that for someone who sucks on drums, I sound great! Figure that out, it's basically true.
I am a commercial photographer/digital imaging/studio owner. I started T. Vogel Studio Productions studio in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1991. Check out my 'normal' photography if you get a chance: www.tvogel.com
My favorite thing to shoot, other than naked young models (female, over 18yrs old, that is) is snare drums & drumsets, especially when they're ones I made. I just started doing my own drumbuilding last summer; woodworking and house projects has always been a hobby of mine. I'm fascinated with vintage drums & have buying 'ugly duckling' cheap old snare drums off Ebay & re-cutting the edges, veneering them, adding new snare wires & heads, & turning them into a CUSTOM snare (kind of a silk purse from a sow's ear type thing.) I will eventually post pics of many of these.
I'm married with 2 teenage sons; the 15 year old wants to build a guitar now, so for the 1st time ever, dad actually posseses some knowledge!! I was an idiot before that!
Anyway, I really enjoy the builders forums, & the Denver Summit was one of my favorite weekends EVER!!! I really enjoyed meeting you guys who were there. Can't wait for another!

Default about me...

I am pretty sure that you all can pick out that my name is Austin Becker

I am originally from the Houston area in a city called Deer Park, but I currently temporarily reside in Biloxi, MS at Keesler Air Force Base, leading to my next trait. I am a member of the United States Air Force... I haven't played a drum set in around 4 months, but I still continue to build drums because once I get out of tech school, I am going to be playing again. I am 19 years old, and I am married to a beautiful girl named brooke. in around 5 weeks I will change station from Keesler AFB to Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls Texas for several months to learn how to repair the avionics systems on the F-15 Fighter Jet and that's about all there is to know about me.

okay..since Dennis got me started...

My name is Paul Kopf..born 7/4/77 in pottstown,PA with drumsticks in my hands and a want to bang on something. I am now 26 and have been building drums for about 3.5 years now and been playing for about 19 years. My day job is working for a custom cabinetry shop, building and installing cabinets and furniture. I run my custom company(Black Cat Drums) out of a ONE car garge(top that Dennis..hahaha) and things are pretty tight. I am getting married to one of the loveliest girls on the whole planet in May 2005 and then who knows from there.

Bree and I met everyone at the Drum Builders Summit in Denver and we had one of the best times while we were there.

Plans include building drums and hopefully making a name for my company..buying a house with a 2 car detached garage(i am obsessed over this)
and making Phattie D move to PA so we can take over the drum world.
